미국 대서양 바닷가 - R. A. Apffel Park

미국 Texas Woodlands에 다녀온 지도 한참이 지났다. Woodlands에서의 모든 일정을 끝내고 마지막 날 귀국행 비행기 타는 날에 그동안 어디 제대로 다닌 데가 없어서 자동차를 끌고 해변을 찾아 가기로 했다. Houston 북서쪽에서 Houston 남동쪽 해안에 위치한 Galveston으로 자동차를 몰고 약 2시간 넘게 달렸다. 그리고 그 Galveston의 북동쪽 끝 R. A. Apffel Park 해변으로 차를 끌고 갔다. Google Earth에서 찾은 위치다. 미국 Texas Houston 남동부 해안이다. 대서양을 마주하고 있는 곳이다.


Woodlands에서 Houston으로 진입하다가 운전 중에 찍은 사진이다. Woodlands는 앞 부분의 시리즈에서 보듯이 휴양지인지라 주변에 푸른 숲 뿐이었으나 차를 끌고 가다 보니 저 멀리 Houston 시내가 보였다. 그래서 오랜만에 보는 도심이라 차를 몰면서 가지고 간 디카로 한장 찍었다.


약 2시간의 운전 끝에 드디어 Apffel Park 해변에 도착했다. 이 곳은 신두리처럼 차를 끌고 그대로 해변으로 진입할 수 있었다. 해변의 크기가 어머어마하다. 바다 이전에 해변으로 지평선을 이룬다. 역시 미국은 땅덩어리가 크다.


차를 몰고 해변에 가깝게 몰고 가면서 한 컷 찍었다. 앞에 보이는 바다가 대서양이다!

내가 서 있는 해변에서 양쪽으로 디카로 찍어 보았다. 우리나라에선 거의 보기 힘든 저 멀리 지평선이 양쪽으로 보이는 뱃사장이다. 멋있다. 그러나 바닷물 자체는 좀 지저분했다...




귀국한지가 언제인데 이제서야 미국 일정 마지막 날의 행보를 기록한다.
