완전히 새로운 집으로 이사하다

어제 저녁부터 새로 단장한 다꺼의 불로그가 불통이 되는 사태가 발생했다. 혹시나 너무 과도한 플러그인때문이 아닐까 고민하다가 어제밤에서야 이것이 천리안에서 제공하는 MySQL 서버의 문제 때문임을 알게 되었다. 한참을 씨름하다가 결국 웹호스팅으로 가기로 했다. 내가 홈페이지를 하면서 10년도 넘게 계속 남의 집살이를 하다가 드디어 집장만을 하게 된 것이다.

가장 싼 데를 찾아서 9nang.net이라는 새로운 도메인등록하고, 일단 싸게 웹호스팅하는데를 찾았다. 태터의 좋은 DB 백업/리스토어 과정을 거쳐 별일없이 새집으로 이사가 끝났다.

이번에 이사하면서 알게 된 것인데, 천리안 홈타운(사용자들에게 홈피제공 등)의 서버가 너무 꾸지다는 생각을 하게 되었다. 게시판을 검색해 보니 천리안 전체 사용자들이 사용하는 PHP 서버 7대는 L4로 로드밸런싱하고 MySQL은 1대 뿐이라 한다. 헐... 1대인 MySQL이 누군가의 의도적/비의도적 실수로 인해 잘못 동작하게 되면 천리안 전체(DB를 사용하는 웹들)가 먹통이 되는 사태가 발생하게 되는 것이다. 바로 어제밤부터 오늘 아침이 그랬다. 참으로 한심하다는 생각을 금할 수 없다. 바로 이 사실이 이사를 결심하게된 직접적인 원인이 되었다. 천리안 홈타운 담당자 및 사장은 반성 좀 하기 바란다.

가만 생각해보니 참으로 많은 곳을 돌아다녔다. 처음 홈페이지를 만든 것은 대학교때에 학교 실험실 서버였고, 그리고 아미넷(지금은 신비로)에 공짜 계정 만들어서 이사하고, 다시 회사에 들어가면서 회사 서버로 이사, 다시 좀 전 까지의 천리안으로 이사했었다. 그런데 모두 내 마음대로 쉽게 설정들을 바꿀 수 있는 환경이 아니었기에 많은 제약이 있었다. 그리고 주소도 모두 "~"가 들어가는 것이었고...

이제 9nang.net이라는 어였한 나만의 집을 만들었다. 실제 사는 집은 아니지만 왠지 모를 뿌듯함이 느껴진다.
