83.9...
이 숫자가 체중계에 나타나는 순간 나는 놀랐다.
한번도 보지 못한 숫자이다.

항상 78k 근처의 몸무게만을 유지하다가 약 3년 전에 한 달 동안 모처에 틀어박혀서 밥먹고 일하고 잠자기만 반복했다. 하루가 다르게 얼굴이 퉁퉁부어 올랐었다. 외박한지 약 2주가 지난후 마누라가 면회(?)를 왔는데, 두 어깨 사이에서 터져버릴 듯 달려있는 풍선을 보고서는 아연실색하고 말았다...  아쉬운 두어 시간의 데이트를 끝내고 헤어졌다. 그 후로 부터 약 2~3주후 일을 잘 끝마치고 집으로 갔다. 몸무게를 재어 보았다... 하 하 하 무려 86k를 가르키고 있었다. 한 달 사이에 거의 8k가 달라 붙은 것이었다...
이렇게 어이없게 붙게된 살덩이를 가지고 산지 3년... 몸무게가 조금씩 더 불어 거의 90k를 육박하는 덩치가 되었다. 이제는 좀 움직이자 싶어서 최근에 빨리 달리기를 시작했다. 되도록 일주일에 세 번 이상 하려고 했으나 잘 되진 않았다. 7월 부터 시작했으니 두 달 정도 지난 셈이다. 얼핏 봐도 얼굴하고 뱃살의 거품은 많이 사라진 듯 보인다. 몸무게가 약간씩 줄어드는 것이 보였다.

드디어 오늘 아침 몸무게를 재어 보았다. 체중계에 나타나는 숫자 83.9!!!
난 이 숫자를 본 적이 없다. 왜냐하면 78에서 값자기 86으로 뛰었기 때문이다. 너무 기뻤다. 이제 목표인 70k대가 가능해 보이기 시작했다. 70k대가 되면 나의 꿈 하나에 도전할 수 있는 내 스스로가 정한 이정표이자 출발점에 도착한 것이기 때문이다.
